Emily was raised in Australia, as the third of seven children. (Her parents are not religious and as far as she knows they never belonged to a cult-- they just love kids).
Whilst reading History and Politics at the University of Oxford, she interned at Warner Brothers (Los Angeles), took improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, and started screenwriting.
She was a 2021 Academy Nicholl Quarterfinalist, 2021/22 Minderoo Artist Fellow, a 2023 Ian Potter Emerging Artist grantee, and a 2024 state finalist for RAW Comedy (Australia’s most prestigious stand-up competition). She recently completed an eight-week Australians in Film writing residency at Charlie's on The Lot in Los Angeles, where she co-developed her new half-hour coming-of-age comedy, PETS PETS PETS, with writer/director Josh Cohen.
She’s a member of the AWG and Craft Services Network, an accelerator for emerging screenwriters run by veteran US writer/ producer Nicholas Weinstock (SEVERANCE, BRIDESMAIDS, THELMA). In August 2026, she’ll begin a two-year scholarship studying TV writing in New York City with Alan Kingsberg (LAW AND ORDER, ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?) and Christine Vachon (PAST LIVES, THE BRUTALIST).
In the future, she hopes to pursue her long-held dream of becoming the most uncoordinated wrestler in the WWE.
